Returnable bottles

Reduce waste rather than recycle. François Massol has chosen commitment. The winegrower of the Sauzet estate, in Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, to whom we owe the famous heart vine which dominates the Montoulieu valley, is also committed to the environment through reuse.
“This year begins a collaboration with the Oc 'Consigne association and we have launched 5,000 reusable bottles including a water-based glue for the label which makes cleaning easier”
The Yin Yang cuvée (€8.88) in question is a little nugget where the Atlantic and Rhone grape varieties (merlot, cabernet sauvignon, grenache and syrah) combine fruit and structure well.
“It is a surprising wine which is unanimously appreciated for its aromatic complexity,” continues François Massol, serving Norman and Parisian customers at the cellar. It’s our biggest sales volume on Biocoop and that’s also why we chose it! »
Biocoop is indeed a pioneer in the use of reuse and aims, by 2023, to use all of its brand's glass packaging.
“I am convinced that this approach will rise to the national level in the coming years. It’s very young, very new, but the approach is ultra-interesting and goes in line with current sensibilities. Plus honestly, it doesn’t cost us much! »
The first vintage of organic wine bottled in a returnable, washable and reusable container is also making a splash since four other winegrowers, brewers, lemonade and apple juice producers have committed to the process.
“We even have wine merchants in Montpellier who are starting to take a close interest in it. It must be said that according to certain studies, reuse saves up to 75% energy, 79% greenhouse gas emissions and 33% water compared to recycling
of which the estate has been certified organic since 2010 and is moving in the direction of biodynamics. Taken over by Sophie Graziani, Anne-Claire Degail, Armonie Cord Maillard, Oc'Consigne has just installed and started up, at the beginning of May, a mini-washing unit in Lansargues, in a former cooperative cellar with the aim of developing a industrial sector in the territory.
